Roam Collective was born from a simple conviction: working families deserve a summer that feels like summer. Not logistics. Not compromise. Not squeezing adventure between deadlines.
We're three moms, and we built this because we couldn't find anything like it. So we created it ourselves.
What this actually looks like

Roam Collective came together across Copenhagen, Denver, and San Francisco. Three founders with different expertise and one shared conviction: working families deserve a summer that actually feels like summer.
Maria Grabowska
CEO · Based in Copenhagen
She's lived in 5 countries and raised her family in a multicultural household. After 10+ years in early-stage impact investment and innovation, she founded ilo, a space where families slow down and connect, rooted in Montessori childcare, nourishing food, nature, and community. Maria brings the educational philosophy and the village at the heart of every Roam experience.
Susie Chau
COO · Based in Denver
A former management consultant who visited all 7 continents on a yearlong sabbatical, and then made helping other families do the same her entire career. She specializes in turning "someday" into 1+ month purposeful adventures abroad. Recognized as a Condé Nast Traveler Top Travel Specialist since 2021. Susie is why the logistics feel effortless.
Barbara Mighdoll
CSO · Based in San Francisco
Former tech marketing exec and mom of two who spent two summers living in Europe as a working family, one through a structured program, one fully DIY. She set out to build the experience she wished had existed: elevated, intentional, and designed to actually work for ambitious parents. Barbara is the reason the community feels like it was made for you.
